What We Do

Pool & Hot Tub Wiring, Done Properly

A pool is the biggest electrical load most East End houses ever add, and the one the inspector looks at hardest. We wire the equipment pad end to end: the feed from the house, the subpanel, the circuits for the pump, heater, salt chlorinator and lights, the bonding grid around the shell, and the automation panel that ties it together. New pools, old pools getting new equipment, and hot tubs and swim spas on a deck or a slab. Pool builders subcontract the electrical and schedule around it; homeowners call when the pool company says "you need an electrician for that."

What We Handle

  • Feed and subpanel. A pool pad usually needs its own subpanel, fed from the main panel with wire sized for the pump, heater and anything else out there. We run a load calculation first, since a heat pump pool heater and an EV charger on the same 100-amp service do not both fit.
  • Pump, heater, salt system and lights. Dedicated circuits for each, GFCI protection where the code requires it, twist-lock or hardwired connections, and underwater and deck lights on the low-voltage transformers they are supposed to be on.
  • Bonding and grounding. The copper grid that ties the shell, the coping, the ladder, the pump and the water itself to one potential. It is what keeps a stray voltage from ever being felt in the water, and it is the first thing the inspector checks.
  • Automation panels. Jandy AquaLink and iAquaLink, Pentair IntelliCenter, EasyTouch and IntelliConnect, Hayward OmniLogic and OmniHub. We mount the power center, land the high-voltage relays, wire the sensors and valve actuators, and leave it connected to the house Wi-Fi so the app works.
  • Hot tubs and swim spas. The 50- or 60-amp GFCI disconnect within sight of the tub, the run from the panel, and the circuit for the cover lift or the lights around it.
  • Repairs. Pumps that trip the breaker, lights that went dark, a corroded subpanel on a thirty-year-old pad, or an automation panel that no longer talks to anything.

How It Works

  • Call or send the form; we come look at the main panel, the pad location and the run between them.
  • You get a written quote that covers the wire, the subpanel, every circuit, the bonding, the permit and the inspections.
  • Rough wiring goes in while the pool builder is still working, the bonding inspection happens before the deck is poured, and the final hookup happens when the equipment is set.
  • We meet the inspector for the final, label the subpanel, and show you the automation app before we leave.

Why East West Express Electric

Pool wiring is where a shortcut shows up years later as a tripping breaker or a tingle on the ladder. Andrew quotes it after seeing the job, the crew does the bonding by the book, and the quote includes the permit and both inspections. We also do the landscape lighting around the pool, so the pad, the path lights and the uplit hedge can be one job and one invoice.

Common Questions

Do you work with my pool builder?

Yes. Most pool builders subcontract the electrical. Have them call us, or give us their name and we coordinate the rough, the bonding inspection and the final around their schedule.

Can my existing panel handle a pool?

Often not without help. A variable-speed pump is modest, but a heat pump heater can draw 30 to 50 amps on its own. We run a load calculation and tell you whether a subpanel is enough or the service needs to go to 200 amps.

Which automation systems do you install?

Jandy AquaLink and iAquaLink, Pentair IntelliCenter, EasyTouch and IntelliConnect, and Hayward OmniLogic and OmniHub. If the pool company has already chosen one, we wire it; if not, we will tell you what fits the equipment you have.

How far from the water does the equipment have to be?

The code sets minimum distances for outlets, lights and the disconnect, and the town inspector enforces them. We lay the pad out to pass the first time rather than move things later.
