What We Do

Septic System Wiring, Done Properly

The new septic systems going in across Suffolk County are not the old tank and leaching pool. An I/A system (innovative/alternative, the kind the county now requires on new construction and pays grants toward on replacements) has a blower, pumps, float switches and a control and alarm panel, and every one of them needs an electrician before it can be started up. We do that part: the dedicated circuits from the house panel, the control panel mounted where the manual says, the conduit out to the tank, and the inspection. Fuji Clean, Orenco, Hydro-Action, Norweco and the other units approved for Suffolk County.

What We Handle

  • Dedicated circuits. Most units want two separate circuits from the house panel, one for the blower or pump and one for the control and alarm panel, so an alarm still sounds if the blower trips its breaker. We check the panel has the spaces and the capacity, and add a sub-panel if it does not.
  • Control and alarm panels. Fuji Clean CE and CEN panels, Orenco timed-dose and demand-dose panels, Hydro-Action AP and AN series panels: mounted in sight of the tank, wired to the manufacturer's diagram, with the float switches and the high-water alarm tested before we leave.
  • Blowers, aerators and pumps. The weatherproof outlet or hardwired connection at the blower housing, the pump circuit in the dosing tank, and the conduit and burial depth the inspector expects between house and tank.
  • Permits and inspection. An I/A hookup needs an electrical permit and inspection like any new circuit. We pull it, meet the inspector, and give the installer the sign-off the Health Department wants in the file.
  • Service calls. Alarm sounding, blower dead, panel with no power after a storm. We troubleshoot the electrical side and tell you when the problem is the unit itself and the installer needs to come.

How It Works

  • The installer or the homeowner calls with the make and model of the unit and where the tank is going.
  • We look at the house panel and the run, and quote it in writing. For installers doing several systems a month, we price per system.
  • Rough conduit goes in when the tank is set; the panel and final connections happen once the unit is in and before start-up.
  • We test the floats and alarm with the installer, meet the electrical inspector, and leave the panel labelled.

Why East West Express Electric

Septic installers need an electrician who shows up on the day the tank is set, knows which terminal the float lands on, and does not hold up the start-up. Homeowners need someone who can explain why the county system in the yard has a panel on the side of the house. We are based in East Moriches, the heart of where these systems are going in, and the work fits between the panels, generators and pool pads we already do. If you are a septic contractor on the East End looking for an electrician for the panel side, call.

Common Questions

Do I need an electrician for a Fuji Clean or Orenco system?

Yes. The installer sets the tank and plumbing; the control panel, blower circuit and alarm need a licensed electrician and an electrical permit before the system can be started.

How many circuits does an I/A system need?

Usually two: one for the blower or pump and one for the control and alarm panel. The manufacturer's manual says exactly what each unit needs and we follow it.

Can you work directly with my septic installer?

Yes, and it is the easiest way. Give us their name, or have them call us with the model and the install date, and we schedule around the tank being set.

My septic alarm is going off. Is that an electrical problem?

Sometimes. A tripped breaker, a dead outlet at the blower or a float wire that came loose are electrical and we fix them. A failed blower or a clogged unit is the installer's side; we will tell you which it is.
